Hospital admissions have increased 31 percent and outpatient visits 70 percent in the last nine years. Length of stay has decreased 13 percent during the same period.
Griffin Hospital includes a Performance Indicators section on its website enabling consumers to compare quality indicators previously not available to the public (www.griffinhealth.org). Clinical performance has consistently been recognized by external review organizations (e.g. CareScience Select Practice National Quality Award from Premier in 2007, Best Acute Care Hospital Award from Total Benchmark Solution, LLC in 2005).
Griffin Hospital is the only hospital in the country to be awarded the FORTUNE magazine’s “100 Best Companies to Work For” for eight consecutive years. In 2007, overall employee satisfaction was 94 percent as measured by the Great Place to Work Trust Index survey. Griffin’s voluntary turnover rate is 9 percent and its hospital wide vacancy rate is 4 percent. Griffin’s salaries are 5 percent lower than its competition, but benefits and amenities are rich.
Prior to the adoption of the Planetree model, patient satisfaction at Griffin Hospital was 83 percent. Patient satisfaction now averages 98 percent year over year and is considered among the highest in the United States by the Health Care Advisory Board.
