Using a transdisciplinary model, the center provides a comprehensive range of health services including physical exams, diagnosis and treatment of illness, family planning, health maintenance/disease prevention services, dental, nutrition, physical fitness and behavioral health.

Target

Patients from an urban, medically underserved, low-income community, with a special focus on serving vulnerable adults with chronic illness.  More than half the patients have Medicaid coverage, and an additional 33 percent are uninsured.

Organizational

The 11th Street Family Health Services Center, Drexel University began in 1996 through an evolving and comprehensive partnership between the North Philadelphia community and the faculty, staff and students of Drexel University’s College of Nursing and Health Professions.  In 2002, with the assistance of the Health Services and Research Administration, the 11th Street Health Center was linked to a network of federally-qualified health centers, the Family Practice and Counseling Network.
